Please bear with me as I construct this web page and continue working on the main map. Unfortunately most of the work will be relegated to weekends since my week days are already extremely full. Please leave a comment if you’d like to make a suggestion!

This is terrific Phil.
I can’t help but wonder my friend, is there a way to add photos to neighborhoods?
Hey, thanks Courtney!
I think Google maps definitely has that functionality, but I don’t think I can implement it here. What we’re seeing is actually a Google Earth file imported into Google Maps. It’s a crazy workaround that’s necessary because Google Earth “pages” the original map, which basically means that not all neighborhoods are shown at once.
I actually have no idea why this import method works, but I think I’m pretty lucky to have the functionality that I have. Maybe in the future I can include features like photos.
I’ve actually been in contact with someone at Google (!) and they’re aware of the (numerous) issues that limit the current version of Google Maps.

Great Great Phil! Who needs google photo’s anyway 🙂
This looks great! Are comments how we get info to you about neighborhoods that are missing? Because Hope Valley’s not on there, and we have a pretty active listserve. Thanks!
Kim, thanks for your comment! That’s a great way to get information to me. I’m also adding a “contact” section today.
I suspected that there was a Hope Valley listserv but I was never able to find it. Will you link me?

Awesome! Thanks for putting this together, as a local resident in Durham and a local Realtor who is always promoting Durham I think this is a great site. I’ll promote it on my own blog http://nchomesbylarryt.wordpress.com which receives about 30-40 views a day and will list it prominently in my list of great local blogs/websites.
I do have a number of pictures of local neighborhoods etc that I wold be happy to share with you if you’d be interested. Just email me and let me know.
Thanks again for your efforts; they are appreciated.
Thanks Larry! I’m checking out your blog in another tab.
Eventually, I’d like to feature links to neighborhood blogs within each neighborhood’s dedicated page. I love Cleveland-Holloway’s neighborhood blog (http://clevelandholloway.blogspot.com/) really supports their local bloggers and I plan on totally stealing that idea for this website.
I just read in your About section that you live in Duke Forest. Yours can be the first blog I link to!

I love our city of Neighborhoods. Thanks for showing us how closely connected we are. Last week I learned about open street map. There may be a future use in OSM as a crowd sourcing tool for our neighborhoods.
Thanks for the work on this project.
Kim, Hope Valley is now up.
